“She had to feed her kids”
Written in response to Six word story prompt: Motivation by Shweta
My helper tells these lines so often. She has a back pain and I was telling her to take rest for a few days. She is scared that she will lose her job in the houses she is working for now. Her husband is a drunkard and she is the sole bread earner. If even two houses ask her to stop coming, it will be difficult for her to feed her kids and provide the basics.

The story of many…

This is reality of every alternate worker. Our maid had the same story. Though she shifted to village now. But she also worked for the same reason. Stupid people drink and their wives suffer.

Six words, and I could literally see the same flashbacks of the maid I had in my house. I feel sad when people treat them like outcasts, the struggles they go through are unfathomable

Wow. Such a powerful story. This is something I’ve heard a lot from many. The husbands will be drunkards who resort to domestic violence. The poor women have to struggle and work till they drop to make ends meet.

Many stories like this. Our old help also had the problem with her son. He was a drunkard. Even at 75 she worked.
I feel for them though, but glad that they are bold enough to tackle the situation for their own sake and their kids sake.
